The original plan was to have a game that featured the one and only Jean-Claude Van Damme. But Van Damme left the project to go work on another game that failed to be made. But Van Damme why not in the game gave the creators the character Johnny Cage. The Outfit worn by Cage in the first game is a copy of the last Fighting uniform VanDamage wore in Bloodsport.

Now the Great Shang Tsung come on think about? I think its kind of like long lost brothers. But thats just me.
